"Our elders have been doing it for decades. We don "Our elders have been doing it for decades. We don't use that word about today's a peaceful protest, but we do say that it is a disciplined protest. And the reason we use the word discipline is because they have no right to expect peace from us because they haven't done the work. The politicians should be the ones accountable for peace, not the people being separated, not the families being taken from their children. And tonight, we want our message to be clear and them not to use an excuse and so that we can keep fighting for tomorrow. So tonight, be disciplined." - UESF Executive Vice President, Frank Lara

We are the steady hands guiding students through their toughest moments. We listen when no one else will. We help kids feel safe, seen, and supported. We connect with families. We deescalate conflict. We walk the halls. We knock on doors. We hold space for every child, especially those who are hurting the most. And in return? We get silence. We get uncertainty. We get pink slips. Every year, we're told to hold on and that maybe this year will be safe." - UESF VP for Paraeducators Teanna Tillery, speaking to the SFUSD Board of Education about unnecessary layoff notices.
