SFUSD Paraeducators – Register to attend the Paraeducator Winter Conference (a virtual Saturday conference)

To support paraeducators with continued professional learning and opportunities to utilize their paid hours for professional development (18

PD Hours & 7 Hour Contractual PD Day), the Paraeducator Learning/Leadership Team is hosting a VIRTUAL WINTER CONFERENCE! See our flier!

REGISTER TO ATTEND HERE (registration is not binding – this just gives us an idea of who we might expect!)

When: Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (you can attend some or all!)

Pay: Paraeducators can receive pay for attending if they have any remaining 18 PD Hours or have not yet used their 7 Hour Contractual PD Day. Paraeducators can also attend voluntarily to grow their skills! If you are seeking payment, get pre-approval from your administrator.

Audience: All paraeducators, all classifications (including security aides, early education paras, special educator paras, instructional aides, family liaisons, all R-series paras, etc.).

Daily Opener/Welcome: 9:00am – 9:15m (15 min)
–Interactive Workshop: 9:30am – 10:50am (80 min) Multiple Options Offered
–Interactive Workshop: 11:00am -12:20pm (80 min) Multiple Options Offered
–Optional Tabling (LUNCH BREAK): 12:20-1:10 (50 min)
–Interactive Workshop: 1:10pm – 2:30pm (80 min) Multiple Options Offered
–Interactive Workshop: 2:40pm – 4:00pm (80 min) Multiple Options Offered

Register for the 2023 August Virtual Paraeducator Institute (it’s paid!)

When: August 10-11 (Thursday & Friday), 8:30 am – 4:00 pm: Attend workshops of choice on Zoom.

Facilitators: Members of the Paraeducator Leadership Network (PLN); the PLL team (Professional Learning & Leadership); other SFUSD staff

Where: The Institute is VIRTUAL! Attend from anywhere on your device!

Register Here: Para Institute Participant Registration Form. You are not required to attend every day or stay for a full day. It is up to you how many days and how many workshops you attend each day. You can create your own schedule once you register.

Compensation: SFUSD paras are paid to attend the Para Institute through their 18 Paid PD Hours and/or the 7 Hour Contractual PD Day. Substitute paras do not qualify for the above payment (exception: core sub paras DO qualify). Substitute paras may have the option to attend for pay – contact the substitute office.

Description: The 8th Annual SFUSD Paraeducator Institute will be held August 10-11, 2023. The Paraeducator Institute is designed to support paraeducators to feel valued and supported and to allow paraeducators to engage in meaningful and relevant professional development. Workshops will enhance your wisdom and talents in service of improving student learning and student experiences. Attendees can select morning and afternoon workshops to attend to best meet your job needs and professional learning desires. We anticipate 700 paraeducators attending each day.
