On Saturday, November 4th, UESF and SFUSD announced they have reached a tentative agreement in bargaining after 24 sessions. President Lita Blanc said, “Thank you to the thousands of UESF members who were on mobilization footing for the first strike authorization vote. Knowing that you were willing to fight together for a fair contract, the district settled last night with your negotiating team.”
In the joint press release, Blanc added, “In addition to providing educators their urgently needed raises, we are pleased that this agreement includes clearer protocols around school safety and supports for student discipline, prioritizing professional development in key areas such as restorative practices, and also establishes parent participation in several joint union-district committees. Working together to secure additional revenues through a local ballot measure is the critical next step towards funding the schools that all San Francisco students deserve.”
Turning our focus and energy toward the next step(s) is critical. Begin by coming to the November 8th meeting at Lowell HS to hear details of the agreement directly from the bargaining team and learn about our parcel tax campaign plan.
