Prop A – The Quality Teacher and Education Act
Ida B. Wells teacher James Pierce phonebanks at the UESF office. Mission Education Center teacher Ricardo Cortez & Sunnyside teacher Kit Bell prepare for a precinct walk.
Big push to pass historic initiative to raise teacher salaries!
Can we count on you?Proposition A, the Quality Teacher and Education Act, will dramatically improve teacher salaries and compensation. Over the course of a 27 year career, it will provide additional lifetime earnings of over $92,000 per year [Prop A. salary schedule]. There are also several bonuses and incentives in the measure to improve and reward great teaching in San Francisco.
The Proposition A campaign is gaining momentum, but it needs you, each and every one of you.
The campaign to raise your salaries has gained endorsements from across the city and across the political spectrum, from the San Francisco Bay Guardian to the San Francisco Chronicle to the San Francisco Examiner to the Chamber of Commerce.
But Proposition A will not win without you. We need to get out there on the phones and in the streets to earn the support of San Francisco voters. That is why we are asking that all UESF members do what they can to attend our remaining precinct walks on Saturdays and our phonebanks during the week.
Neighborhood Precinct Walk
Saturdays Through June 3rd
Every Saturday through June 3rd UESF will hold a neighborhood precinct walk. The walks will generally last until approximately 1:00 p.m.Don’t worry if you’ve never participated in a neighborhood walk. Strong coffee, juice, a light breakfast, and training will help get you up to speed.
