Once you know the workshop and date you wish to attend, scroll down to register for workshops and follow the instructions. More Information on CalSTRS San Francisco office services & workshops

The CalSTRS San Francisco office provides group workshops/presentations and individual benefits counseling services. The following services are available to members:

Demystifying CalSTRS-This is a one and one-half hour workshop and is directed toward early career educators with up to five years of service credit. It is also the workshop for members who have never attended a workshop or had an individual appointment.The session is conducted several times during the year at the CalSTRS in San Francisco.

CalSTRS Fundamentals- This one and one half hour workshop is intended for mid career educators with at least five years of service credit. It is an overview of CalSTRS benefits and provides additional information about retirement planning.  The session is conducted several times during the year in San Francisco.

CalSTRS Retirement Check-up-This is a one and one-half hour workshop and is intended for late career educators who are within five years of retirement. The session is conducted several times during the year in San Francisco

Retirement Income Management (RIM).  This is a 11/2 or 3 hour workshop that includes details on identifying retirement income and expenses; understanding the four retirement risks; closing income and expense gaps; and planning to preserve, protect and manage income.  The workshop is designed for CalSTRS members aged 45 and over, retired educators, or any member interested in developing a post retirement plan.  The short session is conducted several times during the year in San Francisco.  The long version of this is by arrangement with CalSTRS.

Group Interview-This is open to any group of members at a site who wish to learn how to estimate retirement benefits, review their account and obtain general information about benefits. It lasts about two hours and is conductedonly on-site in a computer laboratory with access to the internet. The size of the group is limited by the number of available computers.

One-to-One Counseling Interview- This takes about one hour and covers retirement estimates, review of your CalSTRS annual statement, and benefits information. It is recommended that members attend one of the above workshops before scheduling a counseling appointment. Members are seen by appointment only.

Scheduling a presentation/group interview or one-to-one interview. Please call the CalSTRS San Francisco County Office, (415) 241-6000 ext. 3204. Group sessions may be scheduled during or after school hours, in the evening or Saturdays.  Individual appointments are generally available Tuesday through Friday afternoons.
